Terms of Service for LeXpand

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LeXpand browser extension ("the Extension"), developed by jag-a-i ("we", "us", or "our"). By installing or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of Service

LeXpand is a local-first browser text expansion extension for Chrome and Edge. It lets you create trigger phrases that expand into saved snippets, rich text templates, support replies, notes, status updates, and other reusable writing.

LeXpand may include helper patterns such as cursor placement, highlighted text markers, and the {clipboard} placeholder. These features are intended to make repeated writing faster while keeping snippet storage under the user's control.

2. Store Distribution and Platform Terms

LeXpand may be distributed through the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, or other browser extension channels. Your use of those stores, browsers, Google Drive, and related account services may also be governed by the separate terms and policies of Google, Microsoft, or the applicable platform provider.

3. Privacy and Data Storage

• Local Storage: LeXpand stores snippets, folders, settings, trigger phrases, and related extension data locally on your device by default.
• Optional Sync: If you enable Google Drive Sync, LeXpand stores sync data in your private Google Drive application data folder, also known as appDataFolder, for use across your own signed-in browsers.
• No LeXpand Account Server: LeXpand does not operate a separate account system or snippet storage server.
• Privacy Policy: Please review our Privacy Policy for more detail about data handling, permissions, clipboard behavior, and optional sync.

4. User Content and Responsibility

You are responsible for the snippets, templates, triggers, and other content you create or store in LeXpand. You should not store content in LeXpand that you do not have the right to use, copy, or insert into websites or services.

You keep ownership of the content you create. These Terms do not give us ownership of your snippets.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Extension to:

• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international laws or regulations.
• Harm, disrupt, or interfere with the operation of any websites, applications, browser platforms, or services.
• Transmit malicious code, deceptive content, spam, or abusive material.
• Bypass security, access controls, anti-abuse systems, or terms that apply to third-party websites or services.

6. Google Drive Sync Feature

• Google Drive Sync is optional and requires authentication with your Google Account.
• Sync depends on Google's APIs, browser identity APIs, network availability, and your account permissions.
• Uninterrupted sync access is not guaranteed.
• You are responsible for maintaining backups of important snippets or templates.
• If you disable sync, uninstall the Extension, revoke permissions, or change Google account access, sync behavior may stop or previously synced data may no longer be available through LeXpand.

7. Compatibility, Updates, and Availability

LeXpand is intended to work across common browser text fields and writing surfaces, but third-party websites, web apps, browsers, and extension policies can change. We do not guarantee that every website, editor, field, browser version, or extension store will support every LeXpand feature at all times.

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features as needed for security, platform compatibility, product quality, or maintenance.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, compatibility, or data preservation.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, business interruption, or other intangible losses resulting from your access to, use of, or inability to use the Extension.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify or replace these Terms from time to time. We will post updated Terms on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
